Technical aspects of performance making

8 points + 3-4 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Enrolled for the BPA degree and completed PER1040 or DTS1260

Synopsis: The interface of design and stage management with the tasks of other theatre practitioners. Students will be provided with an historical framework on which to base further study of contemporary viewpoints of the respective areas, with particular emphasis on patterns of innovation in the twentieth century. The subject will also examine the impact of design and management techniques on the process of the creation of theatrical works.

Assessment: Production participation: 40% + Essay (2000 words) with the inclusion of detailed scale drawings (drawings equivalent to 1000 words): 30% + Seminar presentation and contribution (equivalent to 2000 words): 30%
