Synopsis: Introduction to concepts of database and data management in organisations. Topics include the motivation for data management, relational and legacy (hierarchical and network) database systems, designing and implementing relational databases, use of the SQL language, dimensional modelling and data warehousing, data quality, document management and the data management function within organisations.

Assessment: Assignments: 40% + Examination (2 hours): 60% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the subject.
