Introductory computing for business applications

Synopsis: The internet, World Wide Web and potential business applications. The Windows graphical user interface and a range of Windows applications software: Microsoft Excel and Access. Principles of integrated spreadsheets, and business data processing software, their use for the generation of business plans, reports, financial statements etc. The spreadsheet section and the database section incorporate an introduction to programming with macros and the database section includes a component on database design principles and procedures.

Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 60% + Assignments: 40% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the subject.
