Synopsis: Introduction to recent and contemporary movements in design in Australia and overseas. /Memphis0, /Builtmoderne0 and facets of postmodenism in architecture in the context of contemporary wood design. Topics include recycling, value-added products and emerging new technologies. Students complete major projects which involve all facets of conceiving, designing and production. Techniques include joinery and construction, fabrication, carving, turning, lamination and wood bending.

Assessment: Assigned projects: 70% + Practical work: 30%
