6 points + First and Second semester + Caulfield + 3 taught studio hours and 9 independent study hours per week + Prerequisites: completion of 48 credit points within any Art and Design degree course + Prohibitions: APA1301, APA1302

Synopsis: This subject introduces students to a range of procedures and techniques through set projects. Although conceptual, aesthetic and theoretical concerns are addressed, this subject primarily focuses on developing students' technical and perceptual skills. The subject provides a foundation for two or three-dimensional glass practice and focuses on raising awareness of the medium in kiln formed and architectural glass making. Studio sessions and group tutorials encourage enquiry and critical appraisal of work in progress. The safe handling of materials and equipment is taught as an essential part of all studio practice.
