The Graduate Diploma in Human Resources and the Graduate Certificate in Human Resources are designed primarily for graduates from a range of disciplines who wish to develop their industrial relations and human resource knowledge and skills. The course examines current theories and models of industrial relations, the dynamics of the labour market, the nature of industrial law, and their links to management functions.
An applicant for admission to candidature must have a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution. Applicants must also possess at least three years full-time appropriate employment experience.
As for graduate certificate; or an executive certificate offered by the faculty with an average grade of credit or above.
Applicants should note that there are two intakes per year to this course, one to commence in first semester, and the second to commence in second semester.
Access to an IBM-compatible computer is essential for the use of wordprocessing and other software packages.
Weekend schools are run three times each semester for many of the graduate subjects. Attendance is optional for those students wishing to attend.
The Graduate Certificate in Human Resources consists of four subjects normally taken over two semesters of study. Students select their study program from the following subjects. The number following the subject name indicates the semester in which that subject is offered.

subjects require prior completion of a prerequisite subject. The prerequisite
subjects are listed at the back of this handbook.
Students wishing to articulate from the Graduate Certificate in Human Resources
into the Graduate Diploma in Human Resources must select their subjects in the
Graduate Certificate in Human Resources in accordance with the course
requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Human Resources.
The Graduate Diploma in Human Resources consists of eight (8) subjects normally
taken over four semesters of study as follows.
Assessment is by a combination of assignments and final examination for each subject. Generally a pass is required in the final examination to pass the subject.
Applicants who have completed graduate-level subjects at a recognised tertiary institution, within the last five years, which are similar in content to a subject forming part of the course of study may apply for a credit exemption to a maximum of 50 per cent of the course.
