Physiology is the study of how living organisms such as animals and humans work. Students studying physiology will learn to understand:
Physiology
is the study of the way the living organism works. It involves the study of
individual cells, tissues, organs and the whole body. Physiology subjects
emphasise the structure and function of the human body.
Students who choose to study physiology as part of the BSc or BSc(Biomedical)
degree will be introduced to physiology in the second year of their studies.
The department offers two eight-point subjects at the second-year level and two
twelve-point subjects at third-year level designed primarily for BSc
(Biomedical) students. BSc students will undertake equivalent second and
third-year level subjects. For BSc(Biomedical) students PHY2051 and PHY2062 are
prerequisites for the third-year physiology subjects, PHY3031 and PHY3042. For
BSc students PHY2011 and PHY2022 are prerequisites for PHY3011 and PHY3022.
