48 points - Full-year subject, comprising formal class contact and private study - Clayton - Prerequisites: Third-year physics subjects including the compulsory units of 'Electromagnetism', 'Statistical mechanics', 'Quantum mechanics', 'Applications of quantum mechanics', 'Nuclear physics' and 'Solid state physics'

Synopsis At least six units are to be taken, with 'Quantum mechanics' and either 'Nuclear physics' or 'Solid state physics' being compulsory. Students are required to present a report on an original experimental project chosen in consultation with their supervisor.

Assessment Examinations (normally 6x2 hours): 50% - Experimental project: 50%
