Coordinator: Dr Paul Cally
4 points - Two 1-hour lectures per week - First semester - Clayton - Prerequisites: MAT2061, MAT2222 - Prohibitions: MAS3121
Objectives On completion of this subject, students should know how to design a wide variety of experiments in which both qualitative and quantitative factors are involved; understand the principles of confounding with blocks; know how to analyse treatment effects into orthogonal contrasts.
Synopsis The following designs will be described and the associated analysis of variance studied. One-way classification. Randomised complete block. Two-way cross-classification. 2n factorial designs. Analysis of covariance. Confounding, partial confounding, contrasts.
Assessment Examination (2 hours): 90% - Assignments and/or tests: 10%
