Objectives At the completion of this subject the students will be aware of the main issues currently of concern in the evolution of human-computer interaction (HCI) processes in multimedia systems; have an up-to-date understanding of the importance of these trends in the development of computer systems for broader use in organisations and society; and recognise the strengths and weaknesses of current practices in multimedia systems HCI development.

Synopsis The subject will examine current state-of-the-art in multimedia interface development practice and their broader, cognitive implications. It will discuss industry trends in these areas and explore likely future directions. There will be an emphasis on the development and evolution of the Internet/World Wide Web and the influence such factors are having on the evolution of computer systems in more traditional domains, and on the processes of computer systems interface development and assessment.
