Objectives To acquire basic knowledge and understanding of hydrologic concepts and to develop skills to apply a range of standard hydrologic analysis and design techniques.

Synopsis Hydrologic cycle: hydrologic processes, runoff generation. Hydrologic data: measurement and recording. Yield hydrology: water balance, rainfall-runoff relations, storage yield analysis. Flood hydrology: flood frequency analysis, rainfall-based flood estimation methods, flood routing, urban drainage design. Groundwater hydrology: groundwater occurrence, aquifer parameters, groundwater hydraulics, groundwater use and recharge. Hydrologic land use impacts: causes of salinisation.
