Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have an awareness of a wide range of recent developments in mathematics education and their implications for the classroom; should understand the appropriate uses of technology in teaching; should be able to demonstrate an understanding of recent reports and recommendations from around the world.

Synopsis This subject will provide opportunities for both experienced and recently trained teachers of mathematics to update their knowledge and to consider the implications for the classroom of a wide range of recent developments in mathematics education. The subject will be taught in modules concerned with planning curriculum and instruction, managing assessment, new content and information technology developments. The subject is relevant for primary and post-primary teachers.

Assessment Three written assignments (2000 words each): 100%
