Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should know the main features of the structure, finance and costs of the main sectors of education in Australia; have gained knowledge of key concepts and their application; have developed skills in the collection of data from a range of sources; have gained experience in economic analysis of educational policy issues.
Synopsis This subject outlines the major approaches, interprets key issues in the economics and financing of education and learning, and assists students to develop their research skills. Topics considered will include funding, efficiency and quality in education, equity in educational resource distribution; teachers and the economy; education and the needs of the economy; education and unemployment; education and income.
Assessment Participation: 10% - Report (2000 words): 30% - Seminar presentation (4000 words): 60%
