Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be familiar with selected readings in feminist theory; be aware of major initiatives in the development of gender inclusive curricula in Australia; be able to critically analyse a range of issues relating to education and gender; be able to develop and implement gender inclusive practices in their schools and colleges.

Synopsis This subject addresses the ways in which gender identity may be shaped in society and within the school culture. The notion of difference has been integral to feminist thought and particular elements of this analysis are applied to issues of relevance in the education system. This subject requires students to make an assessment of recent theory and particular developments in the design of curriculum with regard to inclusive schooling.

Assessment Comparative exercise (1500 words): 40% - Essay (2500 words): 60%
