Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to interpret and implement visual arts curriculum in schools; demonstrate their knowledge of appropriate artistic skills; assess and appraise techniques for visual art programs; understand appropriate content and teaching procedures in the arts in an applied project.
Synopsis This subject examines aspects of the Australian visual arts curriculum from reception or preparatory year to years 11 and 12. The subject encompasses aspects of the visual arts curriculum which provide learning experiences including aesthetics and criticism, studio methods and the presentation of artworks. Intending teaching of visual arts will enhance their knowledge of Australian artistic styles and recent curriculum developments with regard to the successful teaching of classroom and studio art methods and art appreciation.
