Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have developed an understanding of current national and state frameworks for physical education; reviewed recent relevant research in the field of physical education curriculum; developed a specialist understanding of the current practices of a specific area within the physical education curriculum; undertaken a critical review of current practices in light of the new curriculum frameworks.

Synopsis This subject introduces students to recent developments in the physical education curriculum. It examines the origins of the national curriculum profile in health and physical education and the ways in which the profile was developed. It involves an analysis of the national profile and its influence on state frameworks. It includes a review of recent research and current practice in the field which will be chosen from fitness, PMP, sport education or skill acquisition.

Assessment Two assignments (2x2000 words): 50% each
