Practical approaches to teaching health and physical education curriculum

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have gained knowledge and understanding of health and physical education and the principles to employ in constructing meaningful programs appropriate to specific areas in health and physical education. Students should have developed skills that will enable them to demonstrate the ability to design, organise, teach and evaluate specific areas in health and physical education; develop appropriate teaching skills and strategies. Students should have developed positive attitudes towards the values of teaching health and physical education in primary schools.

Synopsis This subject builds on the knowledge and skills presented in core subject EDP1102. It aims to develop in students, the teaching ´expertise necessary to design and administer effective health and physical education programs for children at P-2 and 3-6 year levels.

Assessment Research project: 40% - Curriculum unit: 30% - Teaching evaluation: 30%
