Synopsis This subject has been designed to give students an introductory understanding of the role of the arts and technology in the classroom and in child development in general. Students will explore the meaning and function of the arts in society through the creation of artworks at their own level. The subject will enable students to devise meaningful programs in the arts and technology, to construct series of sequential lessons, to be able to evaluate children's work in the area, and to experience a variety of teaching methods. Throughout the subject, students will be encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of the symbols (aural, visual, oral) employed by children. Methods of teaching arts and technology explored during workshop sessions will be further developed during students' field experience rounds.
