Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to undertake teaching responsibilities and practise basic teaching skills in senior level grades for daily periods ranging from a half-day to one week in duration; discuss and compare their off-campus experiences with the experiences of other students, reflecting on the teaching and class management styles they have encountered, exploring why teachers utilise different approaches and strategies; demonstrate mastery of the detail of a curriculum decision-making model; show mastery of the detail of an evaluation model; demonstrate familiarity with a simulated school situation in which operational policies and practices (including curricula) are determined; demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the specific Curriculum and Standards Framework publication selected for the practical work of this subject.

Synopsis This subject consists of two complementary strands. Strand 'A' provides the opportunity for students to undertake a wide range of advanced teaching and management tasks, with students accepting considerable responsibility for extended program planning and implementation. The aim of strand 'B' is to prepare students in a practical way to achieve basic mastery of the curriculum decision-making process as it operates currently in Victorian schools, and more specifically the curriculum decision-making component of the internship to be encountered in the fourth year of study.
