The Bachelor of Business and Electronic Commerce will give students the foundation elements of business and an understanding of technology and its implications for business growth and productivity in the future. This course is the first university undergraduate course in Australia with a specific focus on electronic commerce -- the business application of information technology between enterprises.
All applicants should satisfy Tertiary Entry Requirements (TER) as outlined in the section on entry requirements in this book. It is desirable that students have satisfactorily completed units 1 and 2 of VCE mathematics (any).
Students must have full access to a personal computer as it is an essential tool for electronic commerce and for this course (the School of Business and Electronic Commerce operates in an IBM compatible environment). Access to the Internet and World Wide Web is also necessary for access to subject materials, to communicate electronically with lecturers, tutors and other students and to conduct research for assignments. Advice is available from Monash in relation to purchase of a computer system and connection to the Internet and WWW.
Weekend schools are run one weekend a month for many of the Business subjects. Attendance is optional for those students wishing to attend.
