Gerontic nursing processes I

Students should be able to: demonstrate their ability to describe the characteristics of the ideal living environment for the older residents in Australian society; provide evidence of their capacity to recognise and describe any actual and/or potential communication problems that might affect the quality of the lives of older individuals; understand and apply the principles of rehabilitation of elderly individuals to their gerontological nursing practice; demonstrate their capacity to apply the nursing process to the multiple needs of aged people; describe the nursing interventions that could assist in the promotion of wellness and self care of aged people; demonstrate their capacity to recognise specific problems and to initiate and implement actions that might assist in the resolution of these problems.
