Studies in educational policy and administration: educational governance

The emphasis of this subject is on the 'big picture' of educational governance -- its history, system administration and the broad context of policy and administration. These are illustrated at the micro level where students have direct experience. The main aim is to promote both conceptual and practical understanding of educational governance, and to connect the policies and practice of educational governance with broader educational politics and the social, political and economic context. The subject is concerned with (a) the legal and administrative structure and historical development of Australian education; (b) major approaches and issues in the study of policy formation, implementation and evaluation; (c) the economic, industrial, social and political context of educational governance and change.
