Objectives Students successfully completing this subject should be able to participate in conversations in defined social situations and to interact with Japanese in defined hospitality settings using simple Japanese; be able to use basic Japanese expressions while staying with a host family in Japan and develop reading and writing skills using a minimum of 160 kanji in a variety of contexts.
Synopsis This subject is designed to continue on from JPL1110. It aims to continue the development of basic communicative competence in spoken Japanese and the introduction of the Japanese writing system. Students at the Clayton campus are recommended to enrol concurrently for JPS1090 (Understanding contemporary Japan).
Assessment Written test(s): 50% - Aural/Oral tests: 25% - Quizzes and assignments: 25%
