Bioethics supervised reading course

Objectives When successfully completed, students should have acquired the skills to frame a topic for a sustained essay; survey the literature relevant to their chosen topic; read critically the key works relevant to their chosen topic; write a sustained essay in which they present the outcome of their reading and defend their conclusions on the basis of an assessment of what they have read.

Synopsis This is an individual supervised reading course. Students will be assigned a supervisor, and will meet with their supervisor to formulate a topic of their choosing. The supervisor will then recommend reading relevant to that topic, and will provide guidance in structuring the written assignment.

Assessment Essay (6000 words): 100%

Texts will be allocated on an individual basis for each student.
