Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should have a sound technical ability in weaving skills; be developing their own personal aesthetic within the medium; be increasing their proficiency in a broad range of fine art techniques including drawing, collage and other media appropriate to tapestry preparation; have the ability to critically evaluate their work in the context of contemporary art practice and theory; have a conceptual and theoretical grounding that allows intelligent critique and discussion about issues central to tapestry and fine art practice generally; demonstrate safe workshop practices.

Synopsis In this second-year subject, students develop a project of individual research into the practical, technical and conceptual issues which surround tapestry production. Students initiate their own projects in consultation with the lecturer.
