Advanced experimental psychology I

Objectives On the completion of this subject students will be able to evaluate published research results; be able to design empirical studies and to analyse statistically the results of such studies; be able to write research reports in the form required in professional psychological journals; be able to evaluate psychological tests and test results and to construct psychological measurement instruments; have achieved an understanding of the essential concepts and critical findings in psychological assessment and two other major areas of psychology; and have developed the knowledge and skills base necessary to undertake advanced study and professional training in psychology.

Synopsis The aim of this subject is to build on the objectives of PSY2011 and PSY2022 by providing advanced training in research methods, the construction and use of psychological tests, and in two major areas of psychology. The subject comprises four 12-13 lecture units on (i) statistics and experimental design; (ii) testing and assessment; (iii) advanced cognition; and (iv) advanced psychobiology.
