Objectives Multimedia applications are becoming widely used in business and industry. This subject aims to develop knowledge and skills for the designing and development of applications that use multimedia. With the advent of network technology, the world wide web (WWW) is also an important application area for multimedia technology. This subject is organised so that students, upon completion of this subject, are multimedia literate, with skills and knowledge to build multimedia applications and presentations for stand-alone as well as distributed or client-server (WWW) environments.
Synopsis Media types and their characteristics. Multimedia applications and their system requirements stand alone and distributed. Multimedia system analysis and design, Multimedia related hardware and software. Standard multimedia graphic file formats. Research issues in multimedia. Multimedia authoring principles. Manipulation of Programming for multimedia objects using a programming language. Architecture of the WWW. Developing WWW documents.
