Objectives On completion of the subject students should understand differences between computer architectures and how they are programmed; and know about organisation and structure of components.
Synopsis This subject examines the internal mechanism of computers and how they are organised and programmed. Topics include machine arithmetic, microprogramming, caches, translation look-aside buffers, RISC machines, and pipelined and parallel organisation.
