Objectives On completion of this subject a student will have the necessary knowledge to understand key principles underlying the physico chemical changes that take place in biological systems. The student will use state of the art computer modelling programmes to develop an understanding of structure activity relationships in biological systems. The student will be taught a range of modern analytical techniques to allow them to choose appropriate methods for various classes of biomolecules.
Synopsis The eight-lecture unit will cover topics in the area of spectroscopic and chromatographic analysis of biological compounds and their metabolits; molecular design by computer modelling and biophysical relationships and energetics in living systems.
Assessment Examination (1x2 hours): 62.5%
