Objectives On completion of this subject a student will be able to identify classes of commercially important drugs and agrochemicals. They will know how they are produced on a large scale and will understand how their performance can be improved by structural modification.
Synopsis The topics to be discussed in 8 lecture units include drug discovery, bioligcally important natural products, herbicides and pesticides. The historical evaluation of drugs from natural products and modern synthesis will be included.
Assessment Examination (1x2 hours): 75%
