Radiographic professional skills 3

Objectives On completion of this subject students will have a detailed knowledge and understanding of patient care during radiopaque contrast examinations of the urinary, gastro-intestinal and hepato-biliary systems. Students will also have the knowledge and understanding to care for patients with special needs.

Synopsis The patient in the intensive care setting. The geriatric patient. The patient with a head injury. The patient with a spinal cord injury. The patient with acute abdominal distress. The operating theatre. Preparation and care of the patient during barium studies, urography, cystography and hepato-biliary studies including trolley settings. Venepuncture. The treatment of allergic reactions to radiographic contrast media.
