Advanced clinical decision making

6 points * 4 hours per week * First semester * Peninsula

Objectives On completion of the subject the students are expected to evaluate models of clinical decision making; choose appropriate models of clinical decision making to achieve quality outcomes; incorporate a knowledge of quality assurance measures in clinical decision making; explore the ethical dimensions of advanced nursing practice; define the scope and limitation of law applicable to advanced nursing practice; initiate quality practice in a variety of health care contexts.

Synopsis The subject is designed to prepare the student with an appropriate theoretical framework and an ability to apply clinical decision making as an integral part of their role as advanced nurse practitioners. Students will examine the characteristics and models which have been developed to explain advanced nursing practice. It is designed to allow the nurse practitioner to function in the changing milieu of health provisions in Australia.
