Professional issues in hospice and palliative care

Objectives On completion of this subject students are expected to analyse issues that arise in palliative care practice; examine and apply resources to resolve issues in palliative care; analyse the rights and responsibilities of palliative care workers, clients and caregivers in the light of law and policy reform; develop nursing practice policies that reflect the legal and moral responsibility of palliative care nurses and the rights of clients.

Synopsis This subject aims to enable students to analyse and debate practice issues in palliative care.

Assessment Tutorial presentation: 20% * Essay: 80%

Prescribed texts

Students will be referred to reference texts, journals and seminal readings during the course
