Objectives At the completion of this subject students should know current management support technologies and tools, organisational structures and their influence on the provision of information systems to support management; understand how information systems can affect the work of management; and be able to identify managerial activities that can be supported by particular support tools.
Synopsis This subject addresses the impact information systems have on the work of a manager. Specific topics include computer support for creative processes and `right-brained DSS'; research on managerial information seeking, and the implications for managerial support tools; technological developments and their impact on managerial computing; the effect of managerial computing systems on organisational power relationships and communication patterns.
Assessment Written: 60%
* Unit test: 40%
