Objectives At the completion of this subject students should have acquired an understanding of the general principles of collection management and an informed awareness of some of the current issues relating to the area.

Synopsis A study of the theory and practice of collection management in library and information agencies; collection policies; selection of materials; assessment of collections; issues such as the Distributed National Collection and ownership versus access.
