Objectives At the completion of the subject, students should be able to organise a small-scale project, including project plans, progress reports, task scheduling and documentation; apply problem-solving and design skills to a task involving integrated hardware and software development of a functional engineering prototype; and appreciate the dynamics of working in project groups.

Synopsis This subject is designed to provide students with the experience of integrating all the skills and tools of digital systems design. Students will be required to plan, design, and construct a physical device that combines the elements of hardware and software into a functional engineering prototype. Supporting material will be provided in specification, scheduling, costing, material sourcing, justification, personal task management, progress reporting, testing and evaluation, report writing, application of CAD tools in project management.

Assessment Demonstration of working prototype, project report and presentation: 100%
