Objectives At the completion of this subject students should have a basic understanding of software and hardware specification, selection and acquisition; be familiar with computer standards and security; and have a knowledge of systems implementation, capacity planning and understand local area networks and their management.

Synopsis Specification, evaluation and acquisition of computer systems including feasibility studies, requirements specification, requests for tender, tender evaluation, software and hardware selection. Systems implementation. Capacity planning. Computer security. Computer standards. Local area network and network management.

Assessment Assignments: 40%
