Aerospace design project

* Prerequisites: at least 16 credit points of level 3 subjects

Objectives Students are expected to gain understanding and skills in the area of aircraft design and project management.

Synopsis Students will be assigned the task of designing a basic aircraft around a set of design parameters, eg load, speed and distance. The students will be expected to develop the design program and assign individual design tasks. The level to which the design is taken is to a large extent left up to the students. Consultation with staff will occur on a weekly basis. Lectures on the design methodology and planning will be given.

Assessment Major design project: 70%
* Design seminar: 15%
* Progress reports: 15%
