Engineering mathematics 1

Objectives The student is expected to acquire enhanced algebraic, calculus and graphical skills with some understanding of checks and likely and reasonable results for a variety of problems.

Synopsis Circular and other functions. Hyperbolic functions, identities, derivatives and integrals. Inverse circular and hyperbolic functions and their derivatives. Vectors. Methods of interpretation and applications. Partial differentiation and applications. Matrix algebra. Second order ordinary differential equations.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 70%
* Tests and assignments: 30%
