Objectives The student is expected to acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of computer-aided manufacturing.

Synopsis Applications of CAD/CAM technology, numerical control of machinery, NC axes definitions, motor control, CNC and DNC machines, economics of numerical control, geometry description by programming, NC part programming, manual programming, APT programming language, APT programming statements, additional feature in APT part geometry, APT programming design, industrial robotics, robot economics, group technology. Computer-integrated manufacturing, implementation of CAD/CAM systems.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 60%
* Tests and assignments: 40%
