Objectives To introduce students to the philosophy of the design of current advanced alloys.

Synopsis High strength low alloy steels, dual phase steels, stainless steels, cast irons, cast and wrought aluminium alloys, titanium alloys, magnesium alloys, alloys produced by non-conventional methods (eg rapidly solidified alloys), nuclear materials.
