Mechanical engineering design 2

Objectives The student is expected to acquire the skills and experience necessary to design and select simple machine components to perform satisfactorily, and if necessary to satisfy a standard code of practice.

Synopsis Design of belt chain and spur gear drives. Selection and installation of rolling element bearings. Design of rotating shafts. Design of pre-loaded bolted joints. Computer aids in design. Detailed design of structures and lifting equipment in accordance with Australian Standard Codes.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 60%
* Assignments: 40%
