Objectives The student is expected to develop skills in and tools for the modelling of a system and statistical modelling.

Synopsis Philosophy of OR, analysis and modelling of a system. Use of simulation as an analysis tool. Systems simulation: the simulation process and business complexity, discrete-event system simulation, queuing models, inventory systems, analysis of simulation data, verification and validation of simulation models, use of simulation languages and computers. Statistical modelling: multiple linear regression, parameter estimation, model assessment, use of residual analysis. Multivariate data analysis.

Assessment Examination (2 hours): 70%
* Assignment and presentation: 30%
