Objectives Develop group problem solving skills related to design and manufacture. Develop committee, planning and communication skills. Develop peer and self-assessment skills. Develop insight into the complexity of issues and range of people affected by introducing new technology.

Synopsis This subject is the culmination of the mechanical design aspects of the course and develops an insight into design for manufacture and process optimisation by means of an industry based project. The students operate in syndicates to evaluate marketing, finance, costing and processing issues in improving quality and efficiency of production operations.

Assessment Combination of staff, industry and peer assessment of committee activity and group reports: 100%
