* Students who have obtained less than a grade average of B+ in CATs 2 and
3 of VCE Specialist Mathematics are strongly encouraged to take ENG1901.
Objectives The student is expected to consolidate her/his knowledge and skills in calculus, algebra and geometry, particularly where relevant to other engineering subjects.
Synopsis Solution of systems of linear equations. Polynomial, trigonometric, exponential and logarithmic functions. Complex numbers. Differentiation and applications. Integration and applications. Introduction to differential equations. Vectors in two and three dimensions. Use of computer algebra systems.
Assessment Examination (3 hours): 70%
