Communications for environmental engineers

Objectives To develop communication skills to a high level through an understanding of the need for and importance of effective communication targeted at the correct level for different audiences.

Synopsis The design, presentation and assessment of matters of environmental concern to different audiences. Topics to include technical report writing; oral presentation techniques; media use; techniques of public participation; meeting organisation; negotiation skills, interview and questionnaire skills, group dynamics.

Assessment Assignments: 40%
* Class presentations: 30%
* Examination: 30%
