Objectives This subject aims to make students aware of the issues of engineering management and the impact such issues have on the professional life of the young engineer.

Synopsis Introduction to engineering management: engineering and management; a synthesis. Development of engineering management, functions of engineering management, planning, decision making, organising. Human resource management: power, authority, influence, motivation, leadership and control. Project management, project selection, planning, acquisition, organisation, leadership and control. Career development, success factors, international operations, current issues.

Assessment Case studies and assignments: 60%
* Examination: 40%
