4 points
* 26 lecture hours and 26 laboratory hours
* First semester
* Caulfield
* Prerequisites: MAC2912

Objectives The student is expected to understand basic concepts of control systems and acquire the knowledge for system descriptions and analysis.

Synopsis Control systems: closed loop systems and feedback control, Laplace transforms, transfer functions, block diagrams and signal flow graphs and their reduction, systems modelling and state equation descriptions. System analysis: stability, transient response and specifications, steady state errors, sensitivity, Routh-Hurwitz criterion, root-locus and frequency response methods.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 60%
* Practical and laboratory work: 40%
