* Students are expected to embark upon the project in December of the previous year. Satisfactory completion will be difficult if the project is not started well before the commencement of the first semester

Objectives The student is expected to develop the ability to undertake a literature survey and document an investigation which demonstrates an in-depth knowledge and understanding of a particular aspect of electrical, electronic and computer engineering.

Synopsis This subject is intended primarily for the honours degree: a weighted average of at least 65 per cent up to and including level three is prerequisite. Comprising one-quarter of the level-four course, this subject is a challenging opportunity to pursue independently an individual experimental project and is likely to require extended effort. It normally includes a preparatory literature survey and developmental work such as design, construction and programming.

Assessment Practical and written work: 90%
* Seminar presentation: 10%
