* Prerequisites: Level 3 of BSc(Physiology)/BE substantially complete

Objectives The student is expected to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the wide range of medical imaging technologies used in modern medical practice.

Synopsis Introduction to the theory, applications, hardware and software associated with medical imaging technology including x-ray, fluoroscopic imaging, ultrasound, computed tomography, digital radiography, NMR and PET. Safety and protection issues. Medical image storage and retrieval.

Assessment Written examination: 50%
* Practical work: 30%
* Assignment: 20%
